The e-Zinc renovation project aimed to modernize and enhance the functionality of an existing facility to meet current industry standards. The primary objective was to improve efficiency, safety, and sustainability, while providing a more flexible environment for research and development of products.
Key upgrades included the installation of 3,000-AMP electrical service, advanced ventilation systems, and the integration of energy-efficient lighting, to help reduce energy consumption.
The laboratory layout was reconfigured to optimize workflow, improve accessibility, and ensure a safer working environment. New storage solutions were incorporated to maximize space, while dedicated areas for specialized tasks were established.
Safety was a top priority, with the renovation including the implementation of hard-barriers for protection from forklift traffic, upgraded flooring (complete with hazard markings and safe travel pathways), and enhanced chemical-storage areas. The facility now complies with the latest regulatory standards, ensuring a secure space for the handling of hazardous materials.
As mentioned, the renovation incorporated sustainable and energy-conservation practices, such as water-saving fixtures and eco-friendly materials. The upgraded laboratory provides a modern, efficient, and safe environment, which now better supports cutting-edge research and development.
The project was completed on schedule and within budget, providing the laboratory with a highly functional and future-proofed space.
